3 Things To Do Weekly To Minimise Your Carbon Footprint

Posted by Valka Yoga on

"Every action matters because when 7 billion people do that thing, it changes the world."

We love this quote by Achim Steiner.  We believe we can all make small lifestyles choices to make a difference and a big one too. We've put together a list of our top 3 causes, each with a simple message/task to reduce our impact on the environment.

1. Take 3

Take 3 for the Sea

Task: Take three pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway... or anywhere.

Marine debris, particularly plastic, has a disastrous impact in our oceans on marine life and, ultimately, us. We can greatly reduce the amount of marine debris in our oceans by preventing it from getting there in the first place. Refuse disposable plastic, Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle and Respond by picking up rubbish. Remember Pick It Up. Bin It. #Take3forthesea and you will make a difference! For more information visit https://www.take3.org.

2. The Last Straw

Plastic straws on the beach

Task: Order your drink without a straw.

The Last Straw is a campaign to reduce the use of plastic straws in venues around Australia. Plastic straws are an unnecessary convenience with a massive impact. Over 10.000.000 single-use plastic straws are consumed by Aussies every day. These straws end up in our oceans contributing to tons of trash and over 1,000,000 seabirds and 100,00 marine mammals ingesting plastic.  For more information visit https://www.thelaststraw.org.au/.

3. Meat Free Mondays

Meatless Mondays

Task: Don't eat meat on Mondays

Meat Free Monday aims to raise awareness of the detrimental environmental impact of eating meat, and to encourage people to help slow climate change, preserve precious natural resources and improve their health by having at least one meat free day each week. The meat industry generates more man-made greenhouse gas emissions than transportation. If Aussies had one meat fee day a week it would have the same impact of greenhouse gas emissions as taking over 100 million cars off the road each year.
